Comprehensive Eye Exam
Each thorough examination begins with a detailed interview of your ocular and medical history. We will discuss your lifestyle, occupation and any recreational activities you participate in. By doing this we are able to determine the optimum solution to your needs and concerns. During your exam you will notice that we have the latest in ophthalmic instrumentation to ensure we are always on the cutting edge of technology. We are frequently upgrading and adding new instruments to provide the most accurate examination possible. At the end of your exam we will go over the findings and determine the best course of treatment for your eyes. You will feel confident that you have received the finest eye care available today.

Computer Vison Syndrome (CVS)
It is estimated that over 175 million working Americans suffer from computer eyestrain. Nearly 60 million children connect to the Internet each day either at home or in school. If you or your child spend more than two hours each day in front of a computer screen, you are likely to experience some symptoms of computer vision syndrome or CVS:

  • Headaches
  • Loss of focus
  • Burning/tired eyes
  • Double Vision
  • Blurred Vision
  • Neck and shoulder pains

CVS is caused by our eyes and brain reacting differently to characters on the screen than they do to printed characters. Until now, traditional eye exams for near vision have resulted in eyewear suited for reading printed materials, not for viewing computer screens. With our new Prio vision tester we are able to determine an accurate prescription to alleviate CVS. Your eyestrain associated with computer use will be a thing of the past.

Digital Retinal Imaging
Digital Retinal Imaging is an improved technology in which we are able to take a high-resolution image of the interior portion of you eye called the retina. This will show detailed photos of various structures of the retina including the optic nervce, blood vessels, the nerve fliber layer and the macula. Digital Retinal Imaging can uncover subtle changes and abnormalities that can threaten vision. This new technology will greatly aid in the ability to diagnose and document many diseases. It can also provide a baseline for comparison with future visits, which aids in monitoring disease progression. This can usually be done without the need for dilation, making it easier to return to work and normal activities after your exam.

Contact Lenses For Almost Any Condition
If you have been told in the past you can't wear contact lenses because of an astigmatism or dry eyes let us re-evaluate your eyes. There have been many advancements in lens technology allowing almost anyone to wear contact lenses. We now have the newest contact lenses with silicon hydrogel materials, providing increased comfort for longer wearing times. There are even contact lenses that have been FDA approved for 30-day continuous wear. We have added new instrumentation that allows us to take high-resolution photos of the anterior surface of your eye permitting us to prescribe the best lens for your eyes.

Dr. Fruchtman also has substantial experience in fitting adolescent patients with contact lenses. Many patients in this age group become self-conscious about the way they appear to others and prefer not to wear glasses. In addition, many of them participate in sports that make wearing eyeglasses cumbersome and can affect performance. With a little encouragement, careful guidance and practice they can be successful and safe contact lens wearers.
